Beneficial changes for businesses – amendment to the RES Act adopted by the Parliament extended the definition of a prosumer. The prosumer package covers small and medium-sized businesses for whom energy generation (in a micro-system up to 50 kW) is not their main business activity. Thanks to the new wording of the RES Act, companies can benefit from a discount scheme, so far available mainly for households. Balancing gives businesses the ability to “store” the excess produced energy in the grid and then get it back during periods of lower production. Generating energy for your own needs means lower operating costs and an even quicker return on investment. The discount scheme also means simple billing rules for companies, without additional invoices or bills.

The same rules also apply to energy cooperatives, which can be formed in rural municipalities and urban-rural energy cooperatives.
